I remember going through this too - I don't think this changes with the age you get married - it's still a lot of paperwork! In our case, the passport is pretty darn important to get fast, too! ;-) And with moving to different countries, we have needed the same 500 copies of everyone's birth certificate and the marriage certificate for various visas and residency permits and work permits...and how many driver's licenses have we had!
