Every once in a while I find a book that captures my attention to the point that I simply must own a copy forever. Just in case. About 15 books make up, what I call, my “life library.” A book titled, Too Good To Leave, Too Bad to Stay,” by Mira Kirshenbaum is one of them. I have bought about a dozen copies of this book over the years to give to friends. It’s that good. No, it’s actually brilliant.

This book puts an end to relationship ambivalence. If you don’t know whether you should keep investing in a relationship or move on, this book is for you. It walks you through 36 questions to ask yourself.  The author provides guidance on how to approach the questions, and your answers provide insight on whether your relationship really is too good to leave or too bad to stay.

(Personally, I used it twice, which is why I am not at this moment at the Charlotte raceway watching NASCAR or dead in Asheville, NC. But, those are stories for another day.)

This book, in my view, is truly a miracle for anyone just “wanting an answer already!” So, pick up a copy for you or someone you know who may be struggling with the question, should I stay or should I go?

  1. Suzanne,
I read this book and you’re right, it is excellent! Now I would really like to know what the other books are in your “life library”! Do you mind sharing?

    Thanks!

    • Alison,
Check out the book section of this blog for many of them: http://latebloomerbride.com/category/books/

But, just to name a few more:Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarisa Pnkola Estes, The Princessa by Harriet Rubin, Women and Love by Mira Kirschenbaum (all of her books are terrific), Enchanted Love by Marianne Williamson, Committed by Elizabeth Gilbert, and many, many others.

      Thanks for reading!

  2. Just bought the book! Looking forward to getting started. I’ve been wondering what to do for over 10 years! I hope this helps me find my answer.

  3. I did finally read this one too, with a highlighter no less!

  4. I have read this book several times myself, and one time it actually had me stay. So, I believe it could be rather helpful if you want to give your relationship a shot.

  5. If your looking to get out, this book is for you. If want to give your relationship a shot this book is not the answer.

  6. Thanks for this one, Suzanne. Another book I am reading is ‘The Soulmate Secret’. It might make a good read for Tom and others searching for the One (she says we have several ‘Ones’ ~ an interesting concept of attracting what’s right while leaving what’s wrong).

  7. I agree, lady.

I read it and I have to say it was not easy answering the questions. After 20 years of patterns, doing the wrong things for what I thought were the right reasons, this book was like a punch in the gut. I actually fought the answers, but in the end, it was pretty clear.
I am now on the path to rediscover what I can do to enhance MY life and through that, find my true love.

Great book, not fun, but good.

    • Yes, the book can really point some things out that aren’t fun. But in the end, as you say, it’s onward and upward. My very best to you as you move forward. And, you will find that true love!
