Yes, how does one adjust to that? And SO right on about Zappos! It is food for thought certainly and makes you ponder. How to go from mystery to familiarity and not the kind that breeds contempt.

I relate to this completely. I married at 33; hadn’t lived with a boyfriend since my early 20s, and was not at all used to having a “witness.” Three weeks into cohabiting as man and wife, we both had to laugh when I said aloud to myself: “Hey! That’s a great idea…nah, that’ll catch on fire.” I don’t remember what the idea was, but we both still trot the line out once in a while.
