How true! The issue of equity is one of the most important in any relationship, especially in marriage. When one reserves a right or privilage to themselves and yet deny it to there spouse is very damaging. Equity Theory attempts to explain relational satisfaction in terms of perceptions of fair/unfair distributions of resources within interpersonal relationships. Equity theory is considered as one of the justice theories.
Love, respect, honor, esteem, regard, consideration, graciousness, understanding, support, validation all are foundation stones for a lasting and deeply satisfying marriage.
Just a few thoughts. By the way, I enjoy your blog. Great wit, humor, and sense. Thank you, Jacob
