Welcome to the land of the Late Bloomer Bride (LBB). An LBB is a woman who got married for the first time over the age of 40. Personally, I got married for the first time at age 42 (about 20 years after Grammie had hoped). And, as I was getting fitted for a (couture) wedding dress for the first time in my 40s, it occurred to me to ask: How do we do this?

Molly – good comments. Glad to hear the “down” cycles can be balanced with “up” cycles. Here’s to the honeymoon!
The surprise has been that you CAN revisit that “honeymoon” stage again. I married in my 30s, we were well established individuals. We had that initial spark, passion, fun – then kids, duty, drudgery. There were times I thought romance was over. Now I’ve been at it long enough to know that we cycle through seasons in our married life which makes the droughts less threatening. I often wonder how many people drop out of relationship too soon – maybe if they just waited and had a little faith…
