Nice comments, Katherine. I'll bet it is hard to be the dance "caller" and then follow a person while doing the dance. We'd love to take ballroom dancing again, too.

I have found it difficut to figure out the "lead-follow" technique in other things - such as who should lead building out house? Who should take the initiative around updating our current kitchen? Things like that...

So interesting, Suzanne. Thanks for posting this. I love ballroom dancing, and I love trying to follow David's lead. We had such fun with lessons about ten years ago in California (beginning and then intermediate of foxtrot, waltz, west coast swing, cha cha, rumba) - I'd love to get back into it somehow, sometime. Just a couple of nights ago we were dancing and David had to remind me to let him lead! Of course it's even harder when I'm supposed to be leading the whole group to dance at the same time as following David personally in our little couple. A whole different struggle! :-) I'd rather not teach, and just relearn the following thing. It does help in marital happiness to each play our own role and mesh together into something beautiful and flowing as we lead and follow and unite! We tried one tango lesson once as a spontaneous thing. Would like to do more of all the dances, with my man.

I think there is also an idea that we can lead but make it seem we are following. Maybe our expertise isn't quite there! I always enjoy your thoughts!
