This past weekend, as Sister and I were lounging in my mom’s pool, the subject of her upcoming (second) marriage came up. The dialogue went like this:
Sister: Well, since this is the second time, we’ve been talking about eloping.
Me: Yeah, that’s a great idea. I’d do it. The second time — just elope. I’ve already had the wedding.
Husband, overhearing from his lounger poolside: So glad you have a plan for your next husband.
Oops.
At least he laughed.
Oops, how is it that men seem to catch snippets of our conversations at the most inopportune times? Very funny story.
Too Funny!
HA HA HA HA that’s awesome! I am going on my second marriage (in October) and we’re not eloping but we’re doing a small wedding. It’s his first–but max 50 people and my two children (12 and 10) are standing up for us (my daughter for me and my son for him) so it’ll be beautiful, but not expensive and very personal…just an idea for an alternative to eloping. I used to hate when my ex referred to me as his first wife though…turns out I was just that. Good luck to her…and bonus to your husband for laughing! Humor=very important!
Congratulations and best wishes on your upcoming nuptials. (Turns out Sister is having a small family gathering after all, too.) Enjoy your day. Yes, I give props ot Husband for keeping his sense of humor intact as I discuss my “second husband.” he-he.
