I could have gone my whole life not knowing a single thing about Al Gore’s sex life.  But, the news media has decided to start covering the intimate details of the Gore marriage, including what he was doing outside of it.   There are just some topics not worth discussing.

Speaking of which, I’ve been told there are some topics you should never talk about outside your marriage.  So, what say you? Can you sense a poll coming?

Temperature Wars – Part Two

Posted by: Suzanne | Comments (4)

Well, well. The ladies still have it. Control of the thermostat, that is.

According to our recent poll, 31% of the women say whoever complains the most, gets control of the thermostat. 25% say they control it, and another 25% say they change it when he isn’t looking (my tactic). According to the men, over a third of the men say they control the thermostat. None reported acquiescing the control to the little woman.

And, on a side note, Sweden is with me on this whole temperature thing. Another reason to continue my fascination with Scandinavia came in the form of news — through this blog (of which I read religiously) – that the Swedes, in particular, view a comfortable room temperature being 68 to 74 degrees. You’d think in a country North of the Arctic Circle would be used to the cold. But, no, I was pleasantly surprised that their love of being warm is on par with mine, at least to some degree. Interestingly when I read that news, Husband saw “68” and I saw “74.”  But, still…

I have announced to Husband that his time is up. The first five years of the thermostat were his years. It’s time to pay the piper. The next five years are mine.

Click.

The A/C is off. It’s 55 degrees outside. We do not need the A/C.

I am determined that all those cute clothes from White House/Black Market will get worn inside our house this summer. I will not be a slave to sweatshirts and sweatpants in July just because Husband wants to wear jeans all summer and won’t put on those shorts. I have put my sandal-ed foot down.

In keeping with my democratic nature, however, I ask you, dear readers, pray tell, who is the master of the thermostat in your house? How do you handle balancing it? (We’re done “balancing” over here. I am serious. It’s my turn.)

Women, please answer the women’s poll. Men…the men’s poll. You’re on the honor system here!

I have been fruitlessly searching for a piece of research I read once (about 15 years ago) that states when you break up with someone and miss them, it’s not necessarily that your miss the person. But, rather you miss their body. You are used to having regularly snuggle and cuddle time. And, when you break up, you go through body withdrawal.

A girlfriend of mine – during a long spell of no-dating – once said to me about her longing for someone, “I just want to bury my face in a guy’s neck.”

I understand this desire. I have this regularly. Oh, about every other day.

I turn to husband and bury my face under his chin. His reply usually is What. Are. You. DOING?

It’s neck time, I reply, batting my eyelashes.

As you can guess, he takes this as a much larger overture than I mean for it to be. I sincerely just want my face in his neck. He wants my face, well, elsewhere.

So, want to take our poll?

What body part, of your significant other, lover, partner, husband or wife, would you miss the most if it was no longer available to you? No sex organs, please. We’re “PG-ing” it here.

Between Facebook and this blog, much discussion was had yesterday around the “right” sized bed for happy “coupledom.” Yesterday’s post about Husband’s and my “bed conundrum” and “sleep fighting,” seemed to hit a nerve. The comments were far and wide, and reader’s own reasons for their bed size choice were very, very interesting.  So, in the interest of “late bloomer science,” we pose the following question:

Posted by: Suzanne | Comments (2)

If you are married, we’d love to hear what you have found to be the most surprising thing about marriage.  We LBBs want to know we aren’t crazy.  Will you answer this poll?
