In honor of Scandinavians’ openness about, ahem, certain matters, I give you The Burlesque Post.

Before I left, my dance studio had a showcase recital. This meant I got to choose my own song and choreography, using all I had learned in previous months. This meant I got to think up a really cool costume. This meant I got to finally buy that pink ostrich feather boa I’ve been eyeing for a year.

could unfurl in such glory?

But, this was merely icing on the pearly cake. Did you see the movie, Burlesque, with Christine Aguilera and Cher? I know it got panned, but I loved it. And, not because I got to steal all kinds of fun burlesque moves from the dancers, either. Oh, no, I got to pay tribute to the most fun costume I’ve seen in a dance movie in years. The Pearl Corset Outfit.

You are looking at 50 feet of pearl strands (fake, of course) and 30 hours of sewing them on by hand (every  night for a week!). I wish you could see all the pearl strands down the back, too.

Christina looked much better in her outfit. But, hey, she probably had six personal trainers, two seamstresses and good lighting to go with it. Regardless, it was so much fun to dance in. It’s noisy and swishy and swingy. Just the thing an over 40 late bloomer bride needs to add to her list of must-have outfits!

Sweden, I salute you (for the courage you have given me).

I’ve met dozens of women, some long-time bloggers and some just contemplating launching a blog. They came from all over the country, writing about everything from fashion to the best baby stroller, from relationships to food.  Everyone is friendly, helpful and supportive, quick to take your card and check out your blog.

And, I’ve been exposed to some really cool blogs, which I would have been reading for years, had I known!

Like The Pioneer Woman. (No one has been shy to tell me I must have been in a coma to have missed this one.)

Also, at lunch day, a group of dating, relationships and lifestyle bloggers got together to talk.  It was my favorite part of the day, as I got to meet the bloggers behind Just a Girl in the World, Single Gal in the City (a big shout out to Melissa for organizing today’s lunch topic), Megan’s Minute, and Pleasure Notes and others.

And ,surprise! I met another LBB at our little gathering. She asked me the most fascinating question: if you could have “flipped” your experience — meaning gotten married earlier and been single later, would you have? Or, are you glad you spend the first two decades single and delayed marriage to later?

We agreed that, if given the choice, we still would have chosen to have spend our 20s and 30s single, and entered married life later.

All you LBBs in the cybersphere, do you agree? Do tell…

(Oh, and so far, my favorite break-out session? Bringing Sex out of the Closet. I just may have to blog a bit more about this one soon…)
