Welcome/About This Blog
Welcome to the land of the Late Bloomer Bride (LBB). An LBB is a woman who got married for the first time over the age of 40.
Personally, I got married for the first time at age 42 (about 20 years after Grammie had hoped). And, as I was getting fitted for a (couture) wedding dress for the first time in my 40s, it occurred to me to ask: How do we do this?
When seeking marital advice I found two camps:
- Those people who have been married since they were in their 20s, and
- Those peeps who have never been married at all.
Both groups (still) look at me like I have six heads when I ask questions about marriage.
So, consider this blog a memoir with a purpose. It is for all the late bloomers out there – especially the newly married kind who are trying to figure out how to take a fully formed life and merge it with someone who finally turned out to be Mr. Right. I don’t claim to have any answers. But, hopefully I’ll give you some things to think about and, of course, comment upon. Read on!
